For unprotected consumers, Pakistan&#8217;s slab system is non telescopic. That means crossing into a higher slab does not just charge the extra units at the higher rate, it reprices every single unit you used that month at the new, higher rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example, using exactly 200 units as an unprotected consumer costs 200 times Rs 28.91, or about Rs 5,782. Use just one more unit, 201 in total, and your bill is not calculated as 200 units at the old rate plus 1 unit at the new rate. Instead, all 201 units are billed at Rs 33.10, for a total of about Rs 6,653. One extra unit of electricity just added roughly Rs 871 to your bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Protected consumers do not face this cliff.
